We will focus on the region around Marrakech, to experience a real sense of connection to the place, people, and cuisine of that area.

We will spend time in the city of Marrakech and stay in a wonderful guesthouse in the Palmeraie, which is a date palm oasis outside of Marrakech. The guesthouse is called Jnane Tamsna, and is on a six acre estate of thriving gardens.

We will explore a Berber village perched at 6000 feet on a mountaintop in the Imlil Valley, and stay two nights there at the Kasbah di Toubkal, Morocco’s highest mountain retreat. We will travel the final stretch to the village by a 20 minute hike, or, by mule ride!

And, we will visit the Portuguese port of old Mogador, now known as Essaouira on the seaside, and spend one night in nearby Sidi Kaouki at the Inn, right on the beach. There is no electricity at Sidi Kaouki, so we will dine by candlelight and enjoy the spectacular stars over the ocean and walks on the beach.
