We will be based in two areas. First, just south of Florence, where the city and the rural food and wine producers tucked away in the hills, are reachable on day trips. Second, in Modena, where we can visit the wonderful food producers of Modena and Parma.

We will begin and end our travels with the Fattoria degli Usignoli, “Farm of the Nightingales”, owned by Silvia and Roberto Pincitore. Fattoria degli Usignoli is a country resort that includes a four-star hotel and residences, and sits on 55 spectacular acres overlooking the Arno valley, 45 minutes from Florence, amidst olive groves and vineyards, with a splendid panoramic view of the Florentine hills. The rooms are spacious, light and decorated with terracotta tiles, shuttered windows and rustic furniture. The villa’s home-grown products include Chianti wine, olive oil, vin santo, honey and grappa.

For two nights we will stay in a clean, comfortable, centrally located 3-star hotel in Modena, and spend a couple days visiting the incredible food producers clustered around Modena and Parma.
