SAMPLE Itinerary*

Today we will meet up at the lobby of the hotel for a welcome drink and introductions in the ealy afternoon

As part of our warm welcome, we would like to invite you to a welcome dinner  at  on of our favorite kitchens in Florence, run by siblings, these young restauranteurs are making waves in the cities culinary scene .  Here we’ll enjoy a young energetic take on traditional Tuscan cuisine while we  get to know your fellow travelers. This dinner will provide the perfect opportunity for introductions and to start building a sense of the community among our guests and to start a foundation for the next 10 days together.

Day 1
March 31

When visiting Florence, or any food city, we believe it is always a good idea to explore the city like a local and discover its hidden gems.  Today we have invited a local food expert  for a “local taste”.  Together we will duck in and out of small, historical gourmet shops in the city center and at the food market and sample a variety of local delicacies.

After a brief rest we will meet up again for our afternoon lesson in wine.

Whether you’re an enthusiast or  novice, you’ll gain some basic foundations for this trip and beyond with our very own wine professional, Bernardo Conticelli.  Bernardo will provide us with a comprehensive introduction to the wines of Tuscany, allowing participants to deepen their understanding and appreciation for this renowned wine region.

Tonight we will head to a local favorite that’s been a part of the Florentine scene since the early ‘60’s.

Day 2
April 1

Day 3

April 2

After breakfast  you’ll have a hand at becoming a Tuscan chef!  We will start the day off at one of the most well known culinary programs in the region.  You’ll spend the morning in the kitchen and we’ll finish off with a lunch made by the group

After your day in the kitchen you’ll have a few hours to refresh or shop before meeting up for Italy's favorite part of the day…Aperitivo.. This evening we will head over to our favorite wine bar to experience a truly local pastime.

Tonight will be a somewhat early evening allowing you time to stroll through the city in the evening (my favorite time in the city)

Day 4

April 3

This morning we will have a bit later start. Since we’re in the birthplace of the Renaissance we thought it may be nice to have a small history lesson on our last day in Florence.  This morning we’ll meet up with a dear friend of Bernardos, a woman with a wealth of historical knowledge of the city.

This afternoon you’ll have another opportunity to become acquainted with an Italian kitchen.  This time, you’ll be with one of Italy's most famous pizzaiolo.  Bernardo has pulled some string for us with his friend and locally famous chef. Here we’ll have a chance to learn how proper pizza is made and of course we’ll enjoy the fruits of our labor for dinner.

Day 5

April 4

Prepare yourself - today will be a high-consumption day in Chianti.

Starting off bright and early we’ll visit a fifth-generation pasta producer working primarily with heritage varieties.

From there we'll make our way to our dear friend who runs a historical wine estate in Chianti. Together with the winemaker himself we’ll take his wines and enjoy a beautiful lunch at his private home.

Just when you think you can’t be more… we'll end the day with a gorgeous ride through the hills of Chianti to secret little place in the middle of nowhere for a meal you’ll not soon forget.

You’ll earn your rest for tonight but don’t worry, there’s more tomorrow!

Day 6

April 5

This morning, we have a few surprises up our sleeves. Sometimes, it’s fun not to know every little detail but to prepare for a nice morning in the hills of Chianti.

For lunch, we’ll spend time in the space of one of the biggest personalities in all of Chianti, a world-famous butcher who is well known for his wild dress and his rock and roll butcher counter. We will have the pleasure of enjoying a Classic Tuscan lunch in his restaurant. Being that we will be with the “butcher” today, you can expect a healthy portion of meat on your plate.

After what’s sure to be a morning and afternoon we’ll head back to our hotel.   Tonight, we’ll have a farewell dinner together with a few of our new friends we’ve made along the way.

Pack tonight - we will depart in the morning.

DAY 7

April 6

Today we depart after breakfast, heading back to Florence city center.

**This itinerary is a SAMPLE and things may change. We will make every effort to provide the tours and experiences that are described above. However, the nature of the places we’ll be visiting, not typical tourist destinations, means that plans may change.

Your adventure is waiting.

Tenuta Di VALgiano

Just beyond the medieval ring wall of the Tuscan town of Lucca, the city rapidly gives way to country villas and agrarian pastures. Among these fertile hills, a flourishing cooperative community of biodynamic vineyards and farms has taken root — with several of them now welcoming guests for farm stays
