Explore the Food and Wine of Lyon and Jura France
/Dear Guests,
At Zingerman’s Food Tours, we've been introducing our guests to the remarkable region of Lyon and Jura for nearly a decade.
Why? It continues to be one of our favorite culinary corners of the world.
In 1935, renowned food critic Curnonsky declared Lyon the "gastronomic capital of the world," and it’s easy to see why. Decades later, Lyon still holds that crown, having become the birthplace of nouvelle cuisine under the legendary Paul Bocuse in the 1970s. Most recently, Lyon was named the International Capital of Gastronomy. Known for its celebrated bouchons—traditional Lyonnaise restaurants serving iconic local dishes like sausages, duck pâté, and regional wines—Lyon remains an irresistible destination for food lovers.
After our adventure in Lyon the tour takes us to the breathtaking Jura region, renowned for its unparalleled wine and cheese.
There we get to explore the unique world of Jura wines, with tastings at some of the region’s top producers, starting with the unique Savagnin of the Vin Jaune. And if you’re a cheese enthusiast, get ready for an experience like no other: a visit to Fort Saint Antoine, where the world-famous Comté is aged under the expert care of affinage master Marcel Petite.
Join us on this unforgettable culinary journey filled with incredible flavors, rich traditions, and once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
